Select the right Keywords and start SEO optimization 

The first step for SEO optimization, is to find the right keywords for your content.

You can use many SEO tools for keyword research and suggestion; choose the primary keyword, and then select secondary keywords:

Secondary Keywords: SEO tips for bloggers, SEO tips and tricks, SEO tips for beginners…

My piece of advice: put your keywords in every part of your content, ideally at the beginning of Title, SEO Title, ALT, Permalink, etc.

Optimize H1, H2, H3

Your next step is to write an impressive Heading (H1) which will be the title of your Blog post.

How long should H1 be? From 20-70 characters; shorter than 70 is better!

Use your primary keyword in H1, and secondary keywords in H2 and H3.

Pay Attention to Permalink

Permalink is the URL of a specific web page, like an article, an archive, etc. For SEO optimization, it is very important to put your most relevant keyword there.

Content is anything that adds value to the reader’s life. It can add value by making them smarter, making them laugh, making them do their job better, rush to their child to share the video, make a contribution to a charity – Avinash Kaushik, Entrepreneur

Before wondering how to optimize content for SEO, don’t forget the importance of a good quality content:

  • write using human and appropriate language;
  • don’t copy content from other websites;
  • use the right tone of voice on the basis of your audience;
  • try to give something useful to your readers.

Once you selected keywords, and put them in your content, keep under control their density (percentage of keyword in comparison with total words). 

There isn’t only one rule for keywords number, but consider the best percentage is 2% of your content.

My piece of advise: don’t repeat your keywords too many times, as this can affect your content.

Set up your Internal Link

Google prefers that your pages are internally linked, in order to improve the website structure and show hierarchy of your pages. In addition to this, through internal links you can make single pages or blog posts stand out and improve their visibility.

Choose a SEO Title

SEO title, or Tag Title is not the same thing of H1, but it is the page Title you can see on top of your page and in the SERP. It is important to use your keyword in the first part of your title. Ideally write a title under 50-60 characters and always include your Site title.

Detail your Meta Description

Google usually shows snippets with maximum 160 characters in the SERP, so my suggestion is to write a meta description which explains your content, long enough (more than 50 characters) but not too much!

Don’t forget ALT text

Remember to optimize also your images, with ALT(Alternative text).

ALT should be a description of your Image in order to help Google crawlers reading and understanding the context of your page. Write a detailed description (limit of about 125 characters) and put your keyword also there, because ALT attribute is very relevant for SEO optimization.
